URGENT

Access and Amenity of Whale Beach Under Threat

Key facts:

  1. An application to redevelop 231 Whale Beach Road (overlooking the parking lot) was approved by Northern Beaches Council, but on the strict condition that an included restaurant/event venue was limited to 70 people (patrons and employees) with a liquor licence that applies:
    • INSIDE: Every day until 10PM
    • OUTSIDE: Friday and Saturday until 9PM
    • OUTSIDE: Sunday to Thursday until 8PM
  2. The Developer has now appealed to the Land and Environment Court and is seeking permission to add a further 112 patrons and employees to the 70 already approved.
  3. The Developer is not adding any parking to cater for these patrons and employees and is relying on use of the small public car park (146 bays) and adjoining streets at Whale Beach.
  4. This venue will add extra burden on the very limited parking and significantly impact on the access and amenity of the area, especially given the late-night service of alcohol.
  5. We agree with the original determination by Northern Beaches Council to limit patrons and employees to 70.

We need your support. Time is running out – the matter will be heard in mid-March 2024.

If you agree that the 70-person limit should not be increased to 182, please take 30 seconds to send a short email to Northern Beaches Council indicating this. (The email link and QR code will link directly to the council email address):
